There is one resource in particular you should be aware of when working on your taxes, theEarned Income Tax Credit (EITC). This important tax credit helps millions of eligible working families every year end up with more money in their pockets—as much as $6,143—after filing taxes. If you earned less than $52,427 in 2014, depending on your marital status and family size, you may qualify this year. You may apply for this tax credit only if you have a social security number. Visit www.irs.gov/eitc to find out if you are eligible for the EITC this year. You can further maximize your tax refund through the Child Tax Credit (CTC), for people with a qualifying child; and the American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC), for qualified higher education expenses. These credits are important resources that help working families make ends meet. For more information about these and other tax credits visithttp://www.irs.gov/Credits-&-Deductions.
